Japan defeat: Garba take Eaglets to classroom

Golden Eaglets head coach Manu Garba drilled his players in a classroom tutorial few hours after their 1-0 loss to Japan in Sunday night’s friendly game.


Head coach of the team, Manu Garba took time to analyse the game to the players, a move meant to correct lapses noticed in the defeat to the Asian side.

The technical and tactical lecture gave the boys a picture of what to expect at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.

The Golden Eaglets’ loss to Japan was their second since they arrived in Brazil to begin preparations for the competition.

Garba’s boy’s lost 2-1 to Sao Paulo in the first game, but they bounced back to record a 4-2 win against South Korea in the second.

Nigeria’s bid for a record sixth FIFA U-17 World Cup title will get underway on Saturday when they face Hungary in their first Group B match at the Goiania Estadio Olimpico before facing Ecuador at the same venue on Tuesday, 29 October.

They will confront Australia in their last group game on Friday, 1 November at Estadio Bezerrao in Brasilia.
