The FCT Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Guto Village, a border community in Bwari Area Council, in the early hours of Wednesday, 20th November 2025.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that about thirty heavily armed criminals had invaded the community intending to abduct a resident and his family.

She confirmed that the Bwari Division Surveillance Team and the IGP Special Intervention Squad responded immediately, leading to a gun duel with the attackers.

Two of the assailants were neutralized, while the rest fled into nearby bushes and mountainous terrain.

Tragically, one police officer sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at Bwari General Hospital.

The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Miller Dantawaye, commended the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved and assured that operations to eliminate criminal elements in the FCT would continue.

Residents of Guto and other communities are urged to remain vigilant.
