Army GOC assures professionalism in Delta operations
The General Officer Commanding 6 division Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdussalam has assured that troops conducting operations, over the murder of seventeen soldiers at Okuama community in Ughelli south local government area of Delta state will be firm and professional in the cause of the operations.
The GOC made this known when he played host to the MD of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Dr. Samuel Ogbuku at the 6 Division headquarters in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital.
Major General Abdussalam said the mission handed to troops by the chief of Army staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja is basically to recover the weapons carted away by the perpetrators of the heinous crime, and ensure that all those involved are arrested.
He stressed that the troops will continue to be on the creeks until all the objectives are achieved, and reiterated that no amount of propaganda, blackmail, intimidation and false narrative would distract the troops from staying on course to achieve their objectives.
He called on Nigerians to avail the Nigerian Army with credible intelligence on where to get the criminals and ensure they answer for their crimes.
On his part, the NDDC boss who commiserated with the GOC, said the unfortunate incident did not define the people of the Niger Delta region who have since embraced peace and dialogue.
