World Cup 2014: Croatia Defeats Cameroon, 4-0
Croatia is still alive and Cameroon is out of the World Cup after a very one-sided encounter in Manaus.
Croatia took an early lead through Ivica Olic, but it remained a tight contest until Alex Song lost his cool and inexplicably lashed out at Mario Mandzukic late in the first half, punching him from behind as they ran up the field.
Song was rightly shown a red card, leaving Cameroon down a goal and a man, and without any real hope.
In the second half, Cameroon simply imploded. Croatia scored three goals to make the final score 4-0, and it could easily have been twice that many as the Cameroonian defense fell apart.
By the end of the game, one Cameroon player was head-butting another.
Croatia will now face Mexico in its final match of the group, and they will likely need another win if they hope to advance. The Croatians will surely face stronger resistance than they did today.
Still, they will take heart from Madzukic's return. He scored two goals today, and was a constant danger, especially on set pieces.
Ivan Perisic also starred for the Croats, setting up Olic for the first goal and scoring the second himself.
