Suarez, Messi on target as Barcelona edge out Alaves
Barcelona restored their 11 points lead at the top of the Spanish LaLiga table with a hard-earned 2-1 win against Alaves at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
It was Ernesto Valverde’s men’s 18th league win of the season and they remain unbeaten in the league.The visitors came into the clash following their exit from the Spanish Cup at the hands of Valencia but gave a good fight all through the game.
Alaves took a shock lead in the 23rd minute with John Guidetti finishing off a counter-attacking move by firing past Marc Ter Stegen.
Luis Suarez however equalised for the hosts in the 72nd minute with a superb volley after an excellent pass from Andreas Iniesta.The Uruguayan has now scored in eight consecutive league games for Barcelona.Lionel Messi netted the winning goal six minutes from time off a free-kick.
The Argentine was brought out down at the edge of the Alaves box by Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso and he sent the ball into the net.It was Messi’s 20th league goal of the season.
