Enyeama: I Prefer AFCON Ticket To BBC, GLO-CAF Awards

Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama says he would not be disappointed if he fails to win the African Footballer of the Year Award but qualify to defend the African Cup of Nations.

Enyeama who is a nominee for both the CAF and BBC African footballer of the year award told Complete Sports that he was ready to trade the awards for the opportunity to defend the title Super Eagles won last year in South Africa.

“I am happy to have been one of the few nominees for the two awards but I don’t so much care for individual awards. I am a team player and I would love to win collectively. I treasure playing at AFCON but it won’t be a bad idea to win the award because I am eminently qualified to be the best in Africa,” he stated.

On the Congo match, he said Super Eagles have learnt their lessons from the first leg defeat in Calabar ,pointing out that the battle in Point Noire will be decisive and the only way against Congo is victory.

“It is important that we get a good result in Congo. It will be tough but with our collective will and determination, we shall conquer. Nigerians should count on us to build on the victory over Sudan in Abuja.”

He stated that the Eagles have realized the mistakes of the past and will want to make amends by taking our revenge in Congo and get our Afcon hope back on track.
