Reps Opposition Accuse PDP Governors, NWC Of Plotting To Retain Damagun
The Opposition Coalition in Nigeria's House of Representatives has accused some PDP governors and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) of plotting to retain acting Chairman Umar Damagun in office until 2027 to weaken the party.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the group, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere alleged that the plan includes installing 24 PDP state chairmen to endorse President Tinubu before the next election.
Ugochinyere described the alleged move as an attempt to sabotage the party, asserting that measures are being put in place to counter the plot. He criticized the party’s leadership, accusing them of colluding with APC leaders to undermine PDP’s credibility and future.
The coalition also condemned the reported efforts by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to destabilize Rivers State governance, vowing to resist attempts to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara or seize the state's allocation.
Ugochinyere warned of dire consequences if the judiciary is used to advance the alleged schemes, emphasizing that constitutional governance must be upheld.
