Oyo Govt to Subject Vaccines to Sterility Test
Oyo State Government has declared that all the 127,740 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccines deployed to the state will be subjected to sterility test.
The Commissioner of Health in the State, Dr. Bashiru Bello who made the disclosure at a news conference after the State Executive Council meeting in Ibadan said the government arrived at the decision following series of complaints from some countries where the vaccines had been administered.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports Dr. Bello urged residents to remain calm promising that the government in concern with their wellbeing.
The Commissioner for Health said some laboratories have been designated for the test which is to ensure that the needful is done before residents of the state are allowed to take the vaccines.
On education, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye announced the transformation of the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to the status of a University.
He disclosed that the state executive council arrived at the decision based on the overwhelming status of the institution and its programmes aimed at human capacity development.
