The Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Adebola Ekanola has declared that the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic and incessant industrial disputes by Staff Unions have impacted negatively on University Education in Nigeria.

Speaking at the Virtual matriculation of 4,174 students, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has compelled the citadel of learning to resort to online lecturing, saying the university treasures the lives of the students and will therefore not want to take chances.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Prof. Ekanola revealed that this compelled the institution to conduct academic activities this semester online.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor disclosed that students have no reason to be on campus adding that they should stay at home and observe all the COVID-19 protocols. 

He charged the students to be diligent, disciplined and dedicated to their studies while Dr. Boluwatife Ndidiamaka Ikwunne, enjoined the students not to be afraid of failure.

She identified purpose, humility, consistent self-development, curiosity, time management and networking as ingredients of success, advising students to cultivate the habit of being truthful to themselves.
