Ondo Stakeholders, Parents Seek End to ASUU Strike.
Stakeholders in the education sector have described the prolonged strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as a bad omen for the nation's education system.
The stakeholders which include educationists and parents said the government has failed to turn education around with its failure to meet striking lecturers' demands.
Speaking at a one-day program organized for secondary and primary school students in Akure, they appealed to the federal government to urgently address issues raised by ASUU members.
According to them, the country's future is in serious jeopardy if tertiary education is allowed to collapse.
While calling for proper funding of education, they said government alone cannot fund education in Nigeria.
