Navy Boosts Education In Rivers With ‘Free Educational Rhapsody

The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder has distributed free education materials to pupils of three primary schools in Opobo/Nkoro local government area of Rivers State , as part of its Operation Delta Sanity Four programme.

The beneficiary schools were Opobo Primary School, Saint Paul Primary School One and Two, Abaziebie Model Primary School in Opobo/Nkoro.

Speaking during the presentation of the education materials, Commander of NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Cajetan Aniaku, said the gesture was an initiative of the Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala.

Commodore Cajetan , who was represented by Navy Captain Bassey Bassey, said the Nigerian Navy identified the fact that education is very important to the future of children, he said the target of the project tagged ‘Free Educational Rhapsody’ is to encourage pupils in their educational pursuits.

Earlier The team lead by Navy Captain Bassey visited the palace of King Jaja of opobo where they met with the Vice Chairman of Opobo Council of Traditional Rulers, and said that the initiative employs both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.

Receiving the naval officers at the Opobo Palace, Edwin Brown, Vice Chairman of Opobo Council of Traditional Rulers who spoke on behalf of the king of Opobo, thanked the Chief of Naval Staff and the Nigerian Navy for the gesture.

The Council Chief urged the Navy to sustain such initiatives to continue benefiting local communities.
