Rivers CP Debunks Report Of Government House Invasion

Rivers state police commissioner CP Mohammed Mustapha has refuted the report circulating on social media, alleging a violent altercation at the Rivers state government house involving supposed military forces loyal to the FCT minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The police commissioner in a statement by its spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko made available to newsmen, said there was no such incident, as the narrative is a deliberate fabrication aimed at inciting fear, confusion, and unrest within Rivers.

According to the police, there have been no reports of armed confrontations or casualties involving Nigerian military personnel within Rivers state.

The command spokesperson said the state governor Siminalayi Fubara has neither ordered a curfew, nor called for any form of take-over of security operations within the state by militant groups.

The Nigerian police force and other security and law enforcement agencies are said to remain in full control, actively maintaining peace and security across the state.

The commissioner of police reiterates that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of the state, while calling on everyone to go about their lawful businesses.
