JAMB Sets To Investigate 6,458 Results, Vows To Tame Malpractices

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the results of 6,458 candidates are currently being investigated for high-tech cheating, including biometric fraud, image blending, and attempts to compromise CBT centres.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede made the disclosure during the
inauguration of a 23-member Special Committee on Examination Infraction in Abuja .

The Committee is to investigate technology-driven malpractice detected during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

He posited that unchecked malpractice threatens the credibility of exams and Nigeria’s image.

While 141 cases of normal malpractice have gone to JAMB’s disciplinary committee, the new panel will handle extraordinary infractions.

Committee chairman Dr. Jake Epele pledged fairness and transparency, describing exam malpractice as “a direct assault on integrity, merit, and the future of our youth.

Its mandate includes investigating suspected cases, reviewing policies, recommending sanctions, and proposing preventive frameworks. It is to submit its report within three weeks.

Members include academics, security agencies, Microsoft Africa, the National Association of Nigerian Students, and the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools.
