Insecurity: Lawan Meets Buhari, Discuss Way Forward for NDDC

The federal government is working to end the forensic auditing of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to allow for even development of the Niger-Delta Region.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan made the disclosure while addressing journalists after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the state House Abuja Monday.

Senator Lawan said the discussion featured prominently during his discussion with the president particularly on how to reestablish the board of the commission.

He said he agrees with Mr President, that the forensic audit is ended on time, to ensure that everything is done properly and the report is submitted to him.

The senate president said the plan is to allow the law to take its course and cause anyone found culpable to be made to face the wrath of the law.

He lamented that the commission has not realized its objectives since its establishment in the year 2000 expressing the need to sanitise it and get the resources fully deployed in developing the area in the Niger-Delta.

Lawan also said his discussion with the president also centred on the security of lives and property of Nigerians.

He said Government is working to ensure that farmers return to their farm during the coming planting season.
