Delta CP orders detention of policeman over shooting incident

The Delta state police commissioner Wale Abass has ordered the immediate detention of a police inspector, following the shooting of a boy named lucky at Agbarho community.


In a statement by the police spokesperson Edafe Bright made available to our correspondent, the CP directed that the erring officer be transferred to the state criminal investigation department Asaba for thorough investigation, as he commiserated with the injured victim wishing him speedy recovery.

He noted that the force being a disciplined organization, will not condone such cruel action by any member of the force, assuring that the erring officer will be subjected to internal disciplinary measures, including prosecution.


He appealed to members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding, saying justice will not just be done but will be seen to have been done.


It will be recalled that the police officer shot Lucky during a stop and search exercise at Ekrerhavwe junction Agbarho in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state before the intervention of the state police commissioner.
