Senate Committee on Public Account issues 48 hours Ultimatum to NPA Management

The Senate Committee on Public Account on Tuesday declared that the Nigeria Port Authority has been found wanting following series of indictment by the Auditor General of the Federation Report before the committee.

 
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Aliyu Wadada while speaking with Journalists after a meeting with some Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Abuja, issued a 48 hours Ultimatum to the management of the Authority to appear before the committee or face the wrath of the law.
 
Senator Wadada disclosed that there were issue around Lagos channel management, Bonny channel management and Calabar channel management noting that, the committee had respectfully written the authority of Nigeria Port management, some of the communication were responded to and  others yet to be responded to.
 
 
Senator Wadada revealed that Some of the queries had to do with the indebtedness of terminal operators, which is almost a billion dollars, 852 million dollars, ninety three thousand, and seven hundred and thirty cent, adding that there are also issue of estate rent, shipping deals, service among others which are over 68 Million dollars. 
 
He maintained that though the Public Account Committee is not out to witch-hunt anybody, ministry, Department or Agency but that, things must be done properly while the mistakes of the past should be avoided and corrected, if necessary.
 
Senator Wadada declared that nobody would be allowed to underrate or take the National Assembly for granted.
