The Anambra state police commissioner CP Nnaghe Obono has ordered the detention of the patrol team involved in the murder of a member of the public along the Owerri/Onitsha road.

The Anambra CP made this known in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists, said preliminary investigation indicates that a police corporal who is among the team is the prime suspect who pulled the trigger.

The CP directs immediate transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department in Awka, while also calling for calm as he assures thorough investigation into the case for justice to prevail.

He however warned officers and men of the Anambra police command against taking laws into their hands by being professional at all times in the discharge of their duties.
