Customs generate over sixty percent of 2018 target
Despite the sanctions imposed on dutiable goods by the Nigerian army in its fight against insurgency, the Nigerian customs service, Borno/Yobe command has been able to generate about sixty percent of her 2018 income target.
This has been possible, according to the controller of the command, Angbalaga Jesse due to the determination of the command to rid the northeast of any trace of danger or insecurity.
The controller said though there are goods that have been seized due to their relativism to insurgencies like fish, rice, and beans, legitimate businessmen need not fear as their businesses are safe across all borders in the Borno/Yobe command. He also listed other goods that have so far been seized recently to include two thousand nine hundred cartons of imported crusader soap, a trailer load of 50kg of imported rice and 50kg of beans
Angbalaga Jesse confirmed that there are thirteen functional borders in the command but only three are carrying out skeletal activities due to insurgency.
