Police allegedly brutalize, disrupt peaceful demonstration
A peaceful protest by students of the college of Arabic and Islamic legal studies turned violent when the police authority forcefully dispersed them with beating and arrest.
The student took to the street of Ilorin metropolis to show their grievances over the non-accreditation of over twenty courses offered in the college, they noted that non-accreditation of their courses due to non-release of the fund has been affecting them educationally as their certificates are useless after graduation.
The peaceful demonstration, however, was halted a few metres to the government house as the police blocked them from proceeding.
The students were later rough-handled and brutalized by the operatives of the Nigerian police force while some of their leaders were also arrested.
The state commissioner for tertiary education arrived and intervened while urging the student that the money would be paid before Friday to the school account for appropriate accreditation of their courses
