Healthcare: Okezie launches BHCPF in Abia

The Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) has been officially launched in Abia State by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.


The program aims at extending Primary Health Care to all Nigerians free of charge.

Speaking at the median edition of the initiative at Apumiri Ubakala Primary Healthcare Centre, the Minister for Health, Isaac Adewole, commended Governor Ikpeazu for blazing the trail and keying into the Federal Government Project.

Adewole stated that the programme will feature, Free Antenatal care for pregnant women, Delivery, Immunization, among others adding that children under five years will receive free treatment for diseases such as measles.

Governor Ikpeazu while officially launching the program said his administration is committed in primary health care delivery across the state adding that his government will join forces with the Federal government to buffer the cost of health care delivery to the vulnerable.

Haven inspected the construction work at the Diagnostic center of the Federal Medical Center Umuahia the minister joins the Governor to flag off the Abia Electronic Hospital Information Management System at Abia Specialist Hospital, Amachara.
