Odemwingie still on fire
Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie is a man in form as exemplified by his recent streak in front of goal.
The 32-year-old scored his fifth league goal of the season for Stoke City in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa on match day 31 of the Barclays English Premier League.
Odemwingie’s effort on 22 minutes temporarily pegged scores at 1-1 at Villa Park after the hosts had taken the lead in the fifth minute through Christian Benteke.
His goal was a typically cold-blooded finish as he calmly collected strike partner Peter Crouch’s knockdown before drilling a low hard shot past Brad Guzan.
Odemwingie has now scored four goals from just nine shots on goal since joining Stoke City - giving him a conversion rate of 44.4%.
His goal on Sunday was actually his fifth league goal of the season as he scored once for his former club, Cardiff City, on October 5, 2013 against Newcastle United.
He then scored for the Potters after completing his move in January against Southampton on February 8 and followed it up with a brace against West Ham United on March 15.
Sunday’s win takes Stoke up to 10th on the league standings with 37 points from 31 matches.
