The House of Representatives has called on the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to protecting lives and property.

This appeal was made on Wednesday by the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Benson, during the Acting COAS’s screening and confirmation hearing before the Committee.

Hon. Benson emphasized that the evolving global security landscape requires innovative and adaptive strategies.

He noted that modern threats extend beyond traditional battlefields to cyberspace, economic domains, and the socio-political fabric of nations.

He urged the Acting COAS, upon confirmation, to promote synergy among security agencies, prioritize troop welfare, and uphold public trust.

In his response, Lt. Gen. Oluyede assured the Committee of enhanced cooperation among the armed services.

He also pledged to implement effective tactical deployments to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
