Reps Minority Caucus Condemns Killing in Edo, Calls for Investigation

The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has condemned the tragic murder of at least 16 Nigerians, mostly northerners, by a gang in Edo State on March 28th. In a statement signed by caucus leader Hon Kingsley Chinda and other leaders, the caucus expressed shock and grief over the barbaric act, calling it reprehensible.
They warned that such lawless killings, if unchecked, could threaten national peace and unity. The caucus however, urged Nigerians to avoid jungle justice and instead rely on lawful authorities to address concerns. They emphasized that Nigeria operates under the rule of law and that security agencies are available to handle grievances.
They called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct security agencies to investigate the killings, ensure justice, and provide compensation to affected families. They also urged all Nigerians to remain calm and law-abiding while the government works to resolve the matter. Extending condolences to the victims’ families, the caucus assured Nigerians of their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
