Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested in the Delta community of Oghara in Ethiope East local government area of the state.

The police in a statement by its spokesperson Edafe Bright made available to newsmen, said the suspects were arrested while planning to kidnap guests at the graduation ceremony at the Delta state polytechnic Oghara.

According to the police spokesperson, the kidnappers were engaged in a shootout which led to two of the gang members arrested, while three others fled the scene.

Items recovered include an AK 47 rifle, one pump action gun and two cut-to-size locally made pistols.

The suspects have since confessed to the crime, while manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

The Delta police commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda, reiterated that it will not longer be business as usual for criminals in the state.
