Oyo govt. issues appointment letters to caretaker chairmen amid controversy

As controversy continue to trail the appointment of some caretaker chairmen of Local Government council and Local Council Development Areas in oyo state by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, letters of appointment have been issued to 54 out 57 Chairmen. 


Correspondent Kunle Ojo reported that the letters were presented to the caretaker chairmen by Mr Bimbo Kolade, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Secretariat with a charge to them to hit the ground running and ensure even development in the respective areas.

The Commissioner who issued the letters on behalf of Governor Abiola Ajimobi said the local government and Local Council Development Areas are the same, adding that none was superior to the other, likewise the chairmen.

Speaking on behalf of their Colleagues, Mr. Niyi Adeagbo and Mr. Bosun Ajuwon promised that they will justify the confidence the government and people of oyo state repose in them for the opportunity to serve them.

Letters of appointment were issued to 27 caretaker chairmen and 27 caretaker chairmen of the newly created Local Council Development Areas while four local governments from Oyo Zone and Oriire local governments as well as the six newly created LCDAs in both areas were exempted due to an ongoing litigation.
