Olugbo backs community policing
The chairman, Ondo state council of Obas, HRM Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugboland has given a Royal backing to the clamour for community policing in Nigeria.
Speaking at a forum in Akure, Oba Obateru said to effectively combat crime which is on the rise in Nigeria; community people must be involved in the policing apparatus of their area.
He said Nigeria police has done creditably well in its response to crimes but the security in the country can be better with operational community police.
He charged the government to deal directly with community people for the implementation of the scheme to be able to achieve the set goal.
