INEC Commences Distribution Of Sensitive Materials In Edo

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Thursday commenced the distribution of sensitive materials and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BIVAS to the eighteen council areas of Edo state.

The exercise which started as early as 8am at the CBN headquarters in Benin City the state capital amid heavy downpour, saw the political parties representatives checking to ensure orderliness.

Policemen from the state police command headquarters as well as plain cloth policemen were on ground to prevent a breakdown of law and order as journalists scramble to get a glimpse of the materials.

The Edo Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Anugbum Onuoha supervised the exercise as vehicles were seen taking materials to various local government areas under the supervision of the special police unit.

The INEC REC assured residents of a hitch free exercise, saying the process of inspecting the sensitive materials have been a transparent one for all parties to witness. It would be recalled that the Nigerian Air Force has on Wednesday airlifted the materials to Benin city before today's exercise.
