EFCC Arraigns Lawyer for Alleged False Information

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, arraigned Barrister Steve Adamu, before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on a one-count charge bordering on alleged false information. Adamu a Kaduna baded lawyer had on 15 September 2022 willfully supplied the Commission with false claims accusing his landlord of living beyond his legitimate earnings, alleging the acquisition of luxury vehicles and landed property.

According to EFCC, Investigation later determined that the allegations were unfounded and malicious but Barr. Adamu pleaded not guilty during his arraignment.

Justice Khobo ordered that Adamu be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kaduna, and adjourned the bail hearing to 20 December 2025.

The case originated from a petition filed by Adamu himself, which prompted an EFCC investigation that ultimately disproved the allegations and led to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.
