CNG Faults Trump's Military Action against Nigeria

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of military action against Nigeria over alleged genocide against Christians, describing it as reckless and misleading.

At a press conference in Abuja, CNG National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, said Trump’s remarks distorted Nigeria’s security realities and fuel religious tension. He accused Amnesty International of promoting a manipulated petition to justify Western interference.

Charanchi said data from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) shows over 20,000 civilians killed between 2020 and 2025, most of them Muslims in the North, contrary to Western claims.

CNG also accused foreign powers of ignoring attacks on Northern Muslims and romanticizing IPOB’s violence. The group urged the Federal Government to tackle insecurity, called on Amnesty International to stop politicizing human rights, and advised Trump to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and unity.
