Boko Haram Sponsor; US Ambassador Says No Evidence In Allegation

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has affirmed that there is no substantiated evidence indicating that the United States Agency for International Development is providing financial support to Boko Haram or any other terrorist organization.

Following a meeting with the Nigeria Governors Forum in Abuja late Wednesday night, Ambassador Mills emphasized that no country denounces the violent actions of Boko Haram more vehemently than the United States. He reassured all parties that in the event any credible evidence does come to light, the US government stands ready to collaborate with Nigerian authorities in conducting a thorough investigation.

Ambassador Mills underscored that stringent protocols are in place to prevent the diversion of USAID or any other forms of American aid to extremist groups such as Boko Haram.

Regarding other matters discussed with the 36 state governors, the US Ambassador articulated the embassy's vision for the future of the US-Nigerian relationship. He highlighted that the primary objective is to ensure the sustainability of the healthcare initiatives and facilitate their seamless transition to the oversight of the Nigerian government for more effective administration, thereby contributing to the establishment of a robust healthcare infrastructure for the future.

Chairman of NGF and Governor of Kwara state, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and other governors attended the meeting.
