Anambra Police Command Intensify Search for Killers of Lawmaker
The Anambra State Police Command says they're intensifying efforts to arrest those responsible for the Murder of Okechukwu Okoye, the lawmaker representing Aguata constituency two in the state house of assembly.
The lawmaker who was beheaded by unknown gunmen with his remains dumped by the roadside and his aide also killed has generated sympathy within and outside the state, with the president also condemning the act.
Speaking at a press briefing at the police command headquarters in Awka the State capital, the commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng condemned the act and assured that the command will work with other security agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to book.
The commissioner of Police also frowned against the attitude of residents to provide them with useful information in carrying out their duties.
It will be recalled that the lawmaker and his aide were abducted about two weeks ago before his beheaded head was found dumped by the roadside, with the state governor placing a bounty of ten million naira for anyone with useful information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
