Ahead of Benue PDP Primaries: Gov Ortom Absolve Self of Any Anointed Candidate
Governor Samuel ortom of Benue state has reaffirmed his readiness to support and work with candidates that emerge at the primaries of the people's democratic party (PDP), saying the victory of the party in the 2023 polls was his major preoccupation.
Governor ortom who assured all aspirants in the forthcoming party primaries scheduled to elect candidates for next year's general election on fairness and transparency cautioned against blackmail, and thuggery, as anyone caught, will be dealt with decisively.
Ortom gave the assurances at the party's enlarged caucus meeting held at the new banquet hall of the Benue peoples house, in Makurdi. Where he dispelled insinuations that the party was disunited in the state.
While he called on all the aspirants who obtained nomination forms and have been screened to be free to participate in the primaries in compliance with the amended electoral law, 2022, says he has no anointed candidate.
The governor directed the party chairman in the state to furnish all aspirants with a comprehensive list of delegates who would participate in the process.
State chairman of the [PDP], sir john ngbede in a remark told serving political appointees who have presented themselves as delegates to withdraw from participating in order not to contravene the electoral law.
