COVID 19: UCH trains 200 Staff to Curtail Spread

Chief Medical Director (CMD), University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Prof Jesse Otegbayo, has said management of the foremost teaching hospital has begun training for at least 200 staff on best methods to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, which was first reported in Wuhan, China, on December 31, 2019.

Prof. Otegbayo who made the disclosure in Ibadan while speaking with Journalists assured members of the public that the teaching hospital has been put on red alert against the Coronavirus.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the chief medical director of the Hospital disclosed that the staff is being trained in batches adding that infrared thermometers and other facilities have been deployed across the hospital.

He added that two emergency committees have been inaugurated, the UCH Emergency Response Committee and an Infection Control Committee adding that an isolated ward has been created in the hospital for any suspected case of the virus.

Prof. Otegbayo added that the committees have been on the beat since the outbreak stressing that they have been very busy because of a suspected case of Coronavirus on admission. 

Otegbayo also stated that the management of UCH has been working assiduously to ensure and maintain seamless services, saying one of such efforts is the fact that the hospital currently runs on at least 75 power generating sets towards solving the challenge of power supply as well as water supply.
