Man bags 12-years jail term after slitting lover’s throat

 A magistrate court sitting in Yobe has sentenced a student of the department of leisure and tourism, Adamawa state polytechnic, Luka Shuaibu, to 12 years jail term, for attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend, Ishaya.


Luka attacked his former girlfriend who is a diploma 2 student of the same department, over fears that she was about to dump him for a richer man.

Luka ambushed, beat up and attempted to kill her, by slitting her throat by her hostel, after he (Luka) sighted her alighting from a man’s car. The attack happened on November 9th within the school premises.

The police command in the state on Thursday, January 12, arraigned him before  Shehu Ahmad, the Chief Magistrate of the Yola Magistrate Court, who after listening to the testimonies of several witnesses brought in by the police, found Luka guilty of an attempt to commit culpable homicide and causing grievous bodily hurt to Ishaya. He was sentenced to 12 years in jail without an option of fine.
