Is Tomorrow Guaranteed?

Is Tomorrow Guaranteed?

By Judith Irenoa

The news of the death of former beauty queen and wife of the Pastor of Trinity House, Ibidun Ighodalo startled many on Nigeria’s social media space. I remember her as a delectable former beauty queen, exquisite event planner per excellence. Her beautiful face stands out on magazines and billboards.

Going through comments on social media, many described her as not only beautiful inside, but outside. She meant so much to many whom she impacted their lives in one way or the other. In her 40 years on earth, she made an impact.

Ibidun Ighodalo’s death had me asking if tomorrow is guaranteed.  Ibidun had a life many hardworking young men and women strive for. A booming business, an amazing spouse, a beautiful home and many more I may not be privy to. She had a good life by all standards. But… death, death happened.

We strive, ‘hustle’, hope for better days. We defer happiness for tomorrow in the hope tomorrow gets better. What keeps a lot of people going is the hope tomorrow will be better. That dream job, spouse, home, children. We are all motivated by the fact tomorrow will bring forth those good things of life. But death and many uncertainties lurk. I am scared. Life is short! We might as well learn to live in the moment. Live one day at a time, deliberately and consciously making it count.

The year 2020 has taught me and hopefully many others nothing is really guaranteed. Life happens! We might as well decide to live our lives doing what makes us fulfilled and truly happy.

Live consciously, deliberately, doing ‘good’ because tomorrow may never come.
