Obafemi Martins Scores the First Goal in 2014

The 29-year-old Nigerian scored his first Major League Soccer goal of the season for Seattle Sounders in their 2-0 win away to Montreal Impact at the Olympic Stadium, Montreal.

The Nigerian international who has one assist to his credit this term headed in Kenny Cooper's cross from close range in the 58th minute to hand his side their first away win of the season.

The clash which was scheduled for Saturday against the Impact was postponed until Sunday because of expected snow in Montreal.

Seattle are now second in the Western Conference log with six points, one adrift of leaders FC Dallas. They face Columbus Crew on Saturday.

Martins has played in all three matches for Sounders this season, and the Seattle-based side are currently second in Western Conference with six points. Last season Martins scored eight goals in 21 matches for Sounders.
