Oyo assembly justifies importance of grazing bill

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Debo Ogundoyin has declared that the bill on the restriction of open grazing in the state is not to witch hunt a particular ethnic group in the state but in the overall interest of all residents.


The Speaker in an interview with Journalists after a three-day retreat for members of the state House of Assembly added that the bill when passed will bring lasting solutions to the incessant crisis between pastoral farmers and herders in the state.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Hon Ogundoyin while calling for the support of all stakeholders in this regard promised that the Assembly will continue to sponsor bills that will contribute to the socio-economic development of the state.

On the relevance of the retreat, the Speaker maintained that aside from the fact that it has foster unity among members; he added the retreat has opened the eyes of lawmakers to their responsibilities as representatives of the electorate.
