LG POLL: Oyo PDP Members Protest Alleged Imposition of Candidates

Scores of Peoples Democratic Party from Oyo East Local Government on Friday protested the alleged plans by the party Leaders to imposed candidates on them for the May 15th, Local Government Election in the state.

The party members with placards of various inscriptions stormed the Agodi Governor's office to register their displeasure on the matter stressing that candidates should emerge through primary elections.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the security personnel at the Governor's office locked the entrance to the office and prevented the protesters from entering the premises.

The protesters who blocked the gate maintained that since Governor Seyi Makinde emerged through the primary election, all Aspirants for the council election must equally emerge through the same exercise.

Some of the party leaders who spoke with Journalists charged the Governor not to give in to the antics of some party leaders but should allow due process to take its course on the matter.

The Chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Bisi Ilaka who later addressed the protesters urged them to remain calm promising that the matter will be resolved amicably.

He further urged the aggrieved party members who refused to leave the entrance of the Governor's office to take their grievances to the party Secretariat.

The primary election which was scheduled for yesterday has been postponed by the party for the adoption of candidates for the poll.
