Buhari assents to 3 more bills

President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to three more bills to his credit.


The bills incude; the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy (Establishment) Bill, 2017, Air Force Institute of Technology of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2017 as well as the National Intelligence Agency Pensions (Establishment) Bill, 2017.

Senior special assistant to the president on Senate matters, Senator Itah Enang said the assent formally establishes the institutions and to give legal backing to exist.

According to the Airforce Institute of Technology, the assent is to help improve the operations of the airforce for better performance.

While the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy would be sited in Enugu, is to provide courses of instruction leading to the award of degrees, diplomas, and certificates in dental technology, dental therapy and related courses.

The Air Force Institute of Technology of Nigeria would be situated in Kaduna,to give technical training to the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and other services of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigerians, and citizens of other African countries.

Senator Enang also that National Intelligence Agency Pensions is to administer the pensions scheme for personnel of the Agency, sequel to the exit of the Agency from the application of the Contributory Pension's Scheme under the Pension's Reform Act, 2004.

The senator also gave update on the status of the 2018 appropriation bill currently before the senate.

He said the document may be approved as scheduled.
