APC moves to reconcile aggrieved members

The Rivers state chapter of the All Progress Congress (APC) has set up a five-man reconciliation committee to mend the cracks in the party.

The state leadership of the party in a stakeholders’ meeting in Portharcourt, the Rivers state capital, also move to support President Buhari`s stance on the conduct of Congress' election across states and local government areas against the extension of party executives tenure as opted by the national executive council of the party.

The essence of the extraordinary meeting with party faithful was to keep them abreast with the development at the federal level and to help party members and leader take a sound decision on the way forward.

At the meeting, the major resolve among many was the need to align with the President`s Buhari's decision to insist on congresses election in order to entrench the tenets of internal democracy in line with `the party manifestos and laws of the land for the good of the party.

On his part, Senator Magnus Abe, representing rivers south-east senatorial district urged for fence-mending in the party and reconcile aggrieved party members to engender peace, unity and strength to move the state forward under the APC.

However, the date for the congress elections is yet to be fixed but the members and leaders of the party have unanimously agreed to retain the party executives at the forthcoming congresses elections.
