Yoruba Counsel of Elders cautions Tinubu over comments on Amotekun.

The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has urged National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, not to be more federal than regional in his disposition to the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), codenamed Operation Amotekun, and other sundry issues that affect the southwest geo-political zone of Nigeria.

The Yoruba elders disclosed this at the sideline of their National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the YCE national headquarters, Old Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Thursday.

Secretary-General of the council, Dr. Kunle Olajide, while fielded questions from journalists after the meeting presided over by the council's president, Justice Demola Bakre, said the measured statement issued by Tinubu on Wednesday on the Operation Amotekun was belated stressing that the statement came a bit too late because Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is part of Yorubaland.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Council in communique jointly signed by Bakre and Olajide at the end of the NEC meeting, it called on President Muhammadu Buhari National Assembly, governors and Houses of Assembly to sincerely reflect on the state of the country and proceed immediately to take necessary step to put Nigeria on a strong footing for forward march to progress, unity, and development.

They appealed to southwest governors to pursue the regional integration agenda of Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission more vigorously by paying very special attention to human capacity development,  education, health, and agriculture
