Orji Uzor Kalu Says 2027 Race Is 'Tinubu vs. Tinubu,' No Serious Challenger

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has confidently predicted that President Bola Tinubu faces no serious challenger in the 2027 presidential election, describing the race effectively as "Tinubu versus Tinubu."

He emphasized that within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu is the sole presidential candidate, mandating him to serve a full eight-year tenure.

Speaking to Senate Correspondents before Tuesday's Plenary, Kalu dismissed the chances of opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, stating that none of them can defeat Tinubu.

Furthermore, Kalu highlighted the APC's growing strength and hard work in regions like the South-East as a foundation for Tinubu's expected success in the election.

He also noted Tinubu's ongoing economic reforms, describing them as essential

On political dynamics, Senator Kalu clarified that no governors have been forced to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, but acknowledged a steady influx of politicians voluntarily joining the APC from other parties.

Addressing national security concerns, Kalu referred to recent comments by former US President Donald Trump on Nigeria’s violence, as he aligned with the sentiments, noting that Nigerians of all faiths have suffered amid ongoing terrorist attacks.

The Senator’s stance underscores a united government behind President Tinubu’s vision for economic renewal, national security, and political stability as the country prepares for its next elections.
