Inspite calls by the National assembly for President Muhammadu Buhari to disengage Mr Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the Economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC), Magu has continued to reemphasize his commitment to arrest and prosecute treasury looters both home and abroad.

Magu gave the assurance at the 1st National anti corruption stakeholders’ summit held in Abuja on Monday, March 27.

He said the commission has also resolved to take the anti corruption fight to doorsteps of looters.

Haven identified corruption as the greatest challenge undermining Nigeria’s development, the EFCC boss says the agency is committed to eliminating financial crimes and corruption.

Many had linked underperformance of EFCC to wanton corrupt practices in the country and the former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomole who was the guest speaker in this summit however used the opportunity to advise Nigerians to shift from the era of lamentation and crave for the standardization, professionalization of the graft agency for better performance.

Some speakers who were present at the summit, lamented the under-training of the EFCC official's and lack of adequate mobility for their success in the fight against corruption.

They also condemned impunity with which corrupt officials and looters degraded the country’s economy calling for collaboration among stakeholders to end the worrisome state of corruption.

With the theme of the summit; “Building anti corruption consensus in a multi agency environment.”
