SSANU, NASU Paralyze Activities at the University of Ibadan

Academic and other activities at the premier university, University of Ibadan were at standstill and grounded on Tuesday as members of Senior Staff Association of Universities and Non-Academic Staff shot all entrance to the institution.

Recall that the two unions had last Friday embarked on an indefinite strike following a breakdown in the negotiation between the unions and the federal government.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that members of the unions had early in the morning shot all gates leading to the institution, except the one meant for the pedestrian as a way of expressing displeasure with the attitude of the federal government.

The action of the unions led to heavy traffic gridlock within and outside the institution as no vehicle was allowed into and out of the university.

Members of the unions carried placards of various inscriptions saying the indefinite strike will not be suspended unless the government does the needful.

They expressed determination to remain resolute until their demands are met by the government.
