Gov. Uzodimma was never attacked says Imo government.
Imo state government has debunked the rumor making rounds that the Governor of the state Sen. Hope Uzodinma was attacked in Mmahu Community of Ohaji Egbema local government Area of the state. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku noted that such lies could only emanate from an opposition who sees nothing good in the state.
According to Nwachuku, Governor Hope Uzodinma was at the Mmahu area of Ohaji Egbema to sympathize with the community that lost their kinsmen on Friday following an accident that involved a truck belonging to an oil firm operating in their area.
The CPS stressed that the Governor while addressing the families, inside the kings' palace some boys among the aggrieved youths were making noise outside, accusing security operatives of supporting the oil companies.
While the security operatives were controlling the noise from the rowdy section one of the youths allegedly threw stones at one of the official cars of the Governor where they parked and in the process smashed the back glass.
Mr. Nwachuku said the meeting Governor had with the community inside the Eze's Palace was a success and the families of the deceased were condole for the loss.
He further reiterated the commitment of the governor in ensuring that the people of the state get their yearnings such as good governance.
Correspondent Ajibade Awofeso reports that a youth identify as Uzochukwu Chukwukere who is vice chairman of Egbema Youth Wing have been arrested in connection to the damage done to the windscreen of the governor's official vehicle.
