In its effort to keep its promise of extending the amnesty empowerment program to fisher-women in the Niger Delta through fishing equipment in navigating the creeks for their day to day businesses, the office of the presidential amnesty have empowered four hundred women with speed boats, canoes, nets and other fishing tools.

This is in fulfilment of the promise made by the Special Adviser to the president and coordinator of presidential Amnesty Professor Charles Dokubo in giving Niger Delta women a sense of belonging.

Displaying the boats, canoes and other fishing tools at the Delta community of Otokutu with the women in attendance, the Special Adviser to the president who was represented by his SA Media Mr Murphy Ganagana spoke on the exercise.

Some beneficiaries and the MD of the boat construction firm expressed joy over the gesture by the federal government.

The high point of the occasion was the cutting of tape to commission the speed boats and canoes, while in attendance were traditional chiefs as well as coordinators from different Niger Delta states.
