Plateau: Senate summons security Chiefs

The Senate has summoned security chiefs to brief it on the Christmas eve attacks in Plateau State, which led to the death of over 100 Nigerians.

This followed a motion of urgent national importance posted by Diiket Plang, the senator representing Plateau Central.

Senator Plang had in his lead motion drawn the attention of the red chamber to the incident which occurred over some days leading to the deaths of over 150 persons.

Some senators who contributed to the debate, lamented that despite the change in security chiefs by President Bola Tinubu not too long ago expected to bring some form of relief, nothing significant has changed as the situation remains worrisome.

In his concluding remarks, the Senate President who called on heads of security agencies in the country to change strategy in the fight against insecurity, expressed dismay over the attacks that have displaced many residents in plateau state.

Nigeria is facing one of its toughest security challenges in years with armed groups and kidnappers terrorising different parts of the country on a daily basis.
