Oyo Set Up Primary Healthcare For Elderly Across The State
The Oyo state government said it is aiming to designate primary health care center in every local government area of the state for the wellbeing of elderly people.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and social inclusion, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, revealed this at an event in commemoration of the international day for the elderly, held at the house of chiefs, Secretariat Ibadan.
According to Mrs. Balogun, the aim of the event with the themed "ageing with dignity" was to add value to lives of elderly population on how to live a fulfilling lives, free from health challenges, neglect and isolation.
The guest lecturer and a nutritionist, Dr. Tunde Ajobo, whose lecture centralized on importance of water, food at the appropriate time, urged the state government to make a the program a continuous one and extend it to the nooks and crannies of the state.
Cross section of the beneficiaries, who appreciated the state government for all inclusive policies, called for expansion of the program to local governments and concern stakeholders.
