Operation whirl stroke burst arms, kidnap syndicate

Officers and Men of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested suspected arms supplier and kidnap syndicates who specializes in terrorizing Benue People.


The suspects were paraded before newsmen by the force commander Operation Whirl Stroke, Maj Gen Adeyemi Yekini, at the Air Force base in Makurdi.

Maj Gen Yekini, who narrated that some of the insecurity challenges in parts of the state were linked to them particularly the most wanted man Terwase Gwarza alias Gana, said the suspected arms dealer and kidnappers were arrested following intelligence gathering after several weeks before tracking them down.

While assuring that the 19 suspects will be diligently prosecuted after investigation, some of the suspected arms dealers who owned up to their crime, said they supply 4 AK 47 rifle and 2000 ammunition during this past election.

Meanwhile, other suspected kidnappers arrested in Gboko, said they were called in to carry out a task prior to the election but never knew it was kidnapping, adding that his boss now at large collected the sum of 2 to 2.5 million for abducting two politicians.

The force commander, however, called on all those bent on fomenting crime to desist or face the law.
