One Dies, Cows Killed After Herdsmen, Ogun Residents Clash

One person has died while many cows were killed in a bloody clash between resident Fulani and indigenes of Olokemeji village in Odeda local government area of Ogun state.

Galaxy TV News gathered that the villagers held a suspected Fulani kidnapper with large foodstuffs in the village.

He reportedly pleaded to be allowed to make calls to his leaders. After the call,   his leaders stormed the village with guns and killed one vigilante while they rescued their errand boy.

Irked by the loss of their person, the villagers allegedly poisoned the farms which led to a loss of many cows brought into the village few days after the incident.

Our correspondent further gathered that as a result of a possible attack, the villagers fled their homes.

The Transition committee chairman, Odeda local government, Bola Lawal confirmed the incident.

He said the leaders of Fulani herdsmen in the state have been met to talk to their people both in Ogun and Oyo states.

Lawal said series of meetings had been held with Stakeholders including security agencies to forestall any attack.

He said the governor had been informed of the development and had swung into action to nip the crisis in the bud.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi also confirmed the incident.

He however said the situation has been brought under control.

He said the command had deployed its officers to the place to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Oyeyemi said the people were apprehensive of any possible attack
